Could you use the cannon 70-200L f4 for indoor sports by cranking up your ISO?

I shoot sony and grabbed the minolta 70-210 f4 for $150 and its stabilized by body

My wifes aunt was looking at my tamron 70-200 2.8 and wanted something like that.

She found the 70-200L f4 non IS for about $500 with 30 day warranty.
She is also considering the new sigma 2.8 lens

Im not to familar with cannon but know the L series of lenses are very nice indeed.
Could she use that indoors OK?

Please let me know your thoughts. I know this was an outdoor sports question, and that it would work fine for that, but what about indoor? Would you need a monopod, or just real steady hands?
