A55 whitebalance gone berserk
May 4, 2011

The whitebalance on my friend's A55 is having some serous issues. When shooting 3fps with autowhitebalance turned on, this is the result:

Mind you, that's not fluorescent light, regular lightbulb and the same happened outdoor in normal daylight the other day. DRO has no influence and whitebalance is set to auto, no bracketing. Talk about inconsistency.

Anyone ever seen that before? Any technical explanation? I'd say whitebalance is mostly a software thing and when it's off in certain stable conditions, it should be consistently off, not random like above.

For anyone who wants to test her/his A55, please use the following parameters:

  • 3fps burst (doesn't occur in single shot or the faster bursts)

  • AWB

And yes, shooting RAW means the end result will not be affected, but it's annoying and an obvious glitch nonetheless.
