If you had to pick a 16mp intermediate DSLR which one would it be?

Im not a pro by far but thats why Im askiing you for your opinion because you see things differently to us common folk. We aspire to be like you but are limited, whether it be time or budget. Some of us wish to be able to spend the time required to go from a good photographer to a great one.

My question is, knowing what you do about cameras abilities and limitations what camera would you recommend to aspiring Pros on a budget of around 1200USD for the body + lenses.

Your input appreciated
