What first flash to buy for my 60D?

Do you think it would be ok to start with the new Canon 320EX Speedlite, given it's LED light for video and the fact that's it's half the price of the 580EXii? Will I be happy with it as my only flash for a while?
I planned on owning 2 flashes eventually, when I get the money I'll get the 580EXii.
Note, the 580EXii has been out for a long time. Is a newer one coming soon?
