LCD protector

I bought a used Canon G10 with a camera shop installed LCD lens protector. It was installed before the camera left the store. I tried to remove it since it was sort of cloudy. Not knowing if it was glass or plastic I got a finger nail under a corner and pealed it off. I now have glue that does not respond to 70% alcohol. I also tried petroleum free silicone and the glue still will not come off. I am not sure if I only removed one layer of a multi layer glass protector. I checked several other camera LCDs and they are all flush mounted. Mine seems to be glass and mounted on top of the camera body. I am afraid to pry it off in case it is the actual LCD. I need an expert opinion on how to fix this problem. I really want to get the glue off or much better yet, get the whole thing off. Thanks very much in advance....Dan
