Model release for photographing workers?
Apr 22, 2011

I am going to get into shooting more commercial type work. My question is, if a company hires me to photograph one of their workers for an advertisement, do I need a signed model release from that individual?

For example, there is this Broadway type production. I may be shooting individuals or a group of performers. I cannot imagine everyone in the photo signing a release form. Does the company just tell there workers 'You are going to be photographed today for a magazine ad'. That's it, end of story? Is their appearance in the photo serve as their consent?
Sorry for the basic question, I am trying to learn the business side.
