Shooting video @ F2.8 and 1/60 Looks really fast for some reason

I was holding down the button when I'm recording so I would be shooting @ 1/60 per sec. However, it looks like 1/120 instead. It looks like Saving Private Ryan in all the movies that I have held down the button while shooting. It looks so much more smoother when it's @ automode. Why is it that?
I thought to make the video smoother, you have to shoot @ 1/60.
I'm confused.
