Photoshop to the rescue (pics)
Nov 22, 2002

I liked the pose - a lovely photographer intent on finding the perfect shot - but she was back lit, so I had to spot metered on her. As a result, the background was way over exposed, and had lots of clipped highlights from the sun's reflections on the water. Thanks to PS, I was able to salvage something by substituting an artificial background.
That was the case in this kid pic, too, but I inserted a photographic background instead of a construct. It made it a little more complex, trying to match lighting and hues, but resulted in a more natural look.
