a200 vs a580

Hello,
I know this is ridiculous to compare the two, but before I buy I had a question.
I currently own the a200, it was fine when I first bought it but I've grow as a photographer and its time to upgrade. Im not happy with the noise levels with higher iso settings in low light situations. Even at iso 800 I can see noise... if it maters I shoot in manual mode.
How much of an improvement is the a580 over the a200 with noise?
also.. I have been shooting in jpg (fine). Would shooting in RAW help with noise?
