G series and dust/lint trapped in lens issue

Has Canon sorted out the issue that plagued some G9s where dust or lint would get sucked inside the lens during use and then trapped inside the lens elements? I returned two G9s for that reason - within 1 week a piece of lint had become trapped behind the front lens element. The G12 lens design looks like it could suffer the same, but have any G12 owners suffered this? I'm not posting this to criticise Canon - on the contrary, I'm just checking as I am interested in getting a G12.
