Sell a D700 to fund a 14-24mm? (Q. for Event Photogs)

I am an all purpose photographer. I shoot a few events every year but I also love shooting street and landscapes for fun too!
I am trying to decide if it makes sense to sell one of my D700's?
I currently have the following:
D700 bodies x2
24-70mm F2.8
70-200mm F2.8 VRII
I really love a sharp ultra wide angle lens. I want to pick up a 14-24mm but I don't have the funds to pay for a $1600+ lens (used).
So here is my thought... Sell one of my D700 bodies for $2200 and then pick up the 14-24mm and a older (used) D300. I might need to add $200.
I will then have the complete 14-24, 24-70, 70-200 kit along with a D700/D300 combo.
Time has shown that camera bodies depreciate quickly every 2-3 years. By doing this swap now while the D700 price (used) is very high... I can complete my dream lens kit. Then in 2-3 years I can pick up another FX body after they depreciate.
Do you Event/Wedding photogs think this is a good plan? I will miss carrying two D700 bodies together but I will have a 14-24 in my bag
What would you do?
