17-40 L or 24-105L for 5d?

I have a hard time deciding what wide angle lens to get for my canon 5d.

have to 10-22 for my 20d. i love wide angles, but the 24-105 seems not wide enough for me, the 16-35 is too bulky and expensive (adventure travel to remote places), and the 17-40 L i heard is not sharp enough for full frame. (TRUE? i have the opportunity to buy a used one for a great price).

will get a Zeiss 35 mm f2 distagon for art shots, but need a work horse, can only take 1 onr 2 lenses on trips.
