Advice on a carry system.
Apr 5, 2011

I wonder if anyone could suggest a carry system/strap that would be comfortable and accessible quickly. I have been pretty happy with an old leather and foam (Tamrac) strap. It’s been on six or seven different cameras and still my favorite, and a Canon hand strap. It works OK, but I see the ads for a load of different camera carry systems, and I’m overwhelmed. I’m sure it all comes down to personal preference, but I would like to hear from users of different systems. I do a lot of street photography, and walk a lot. I also do some nature shooting and even some drive by shooting. My general day-to-day camera system consists of a Canon D5 camera with a Canon EF 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6L IS lens (heavy) the camera body also has an extended battery grip making it even heavier. It really gets annoying after eight or ten hours of carrying. I also carry extra lens sometimes in a shoulder carrier, so that doesn’t help matters any either. I have belt lens carriers but they are cumbersome and downright annoying. I have a backpack but feel super conspicuous and look like I’m on a street expedition. (Not that the big white Canon monster doesn’t scream look, look. Anyway your advice is really appreciated. Separate the hype from fact.
Thanks in advance!
