Auto-Bracketing Limits on Canons
Apr 5, 2011

I have a Canon 7D, prior to this, as a teenager, I had a T90 with nothing in between. (If I remember correctly the T90 would do multiple exposures of up to 9 shots? I realise this is not bracketing!).

Basically I like Canon, I always have. I believe they tend to come to market with the more innovative functions, and I'm pretty loyal to the company but now I'm considering ditching my Canon before I invest in more L lenses and flashguns. Whilst I'm carting around a tripod to do HDR shots of more than 3 bracketed photos my friend is running about with his Nikon and hand holding up to 9 auto-bracketed shots. Hand holding, I just cannot compete and spending up to 4 hrs carrying a tripod just to get competitive results is frustrating (and his hand held shots are of generally excellent quality).

The new 600D can only do 3 auto bracketing so Canon are obviously sticking to this number. I really don't understand this limitation, I do not see the standard C1 custom control as a reasonable solution. Surely firmware allowing 5 or more shots is a trivial matter?
