E-PL1 and MF lenses? How to get started?
Apr 2, 2011

I've read that one of the real advantages of the PEN cameras is that they can work well with older "legacy" MF lenses. Having not ever shot in MF, how would one go about this whole thing? What brands of older lenses are the best bang for the buck? What specific adapter is suggested for them? Is the Manual Focusing accomplished completely by eyeballing? This is not the way to go for any even moderately action shots. Right? But only for images when time can be taken to 1)to hook everything up, 2) determine aperture AND shutter speed manually, 3) focus manually, and 4) trip the shutter?

And then, if one gets past all this, are these lenses defeating the purpose of the smaller/lighter PEN in the first place? Do these lenses look freaky when attached.
I currently have Canon EF lenses. Is there even an adapter for these?
So...is this really worth venture into??
Please explain all this (from scratch) to a potential "legacy" lens user newbie.
