you need to calibrate your monitor. I can clearly see a squirrel on those photos, even if they are indeed almost black.

Actually, I don't have any dark picture on my computer, but the following photograph can illustrate the problem :

it is overall quite dim (but I wanted it to be that way because it was evening). Nevertheless, the exposure compensation is +1.5EV. Imagine what it would be if there weren't any bias.

BTW, I usually use -0.5EV as default, so this picture is actually compensated two stops up!
