Using 2 idenical External HDs on the same laptop problem..
Mar 19, 2011

I just bought 2 2tb WD bookshelf External HD at a great price btw...

My Q

I have a 7USB power external hub, that has my Mouse transmitter, 1-1tb external HD, and 2-2tb external HD connected... but at boot up, the computer recognizes both 2tb HDs, but, only makes one available... That Is: if I check my hardware devices, there are 2-tb HDs, but, if I go to my "computer" folder, only 1-2tb is listed.... The 1tb always shows up btw.

I have unplugged each one separately, and rebooted, and each one shows up when only 1 is connected, but, if I connect both up again, only 1 shows up. Odd to me anyway....

I have Win 7/64 as my OS

So does Win 7/64 allow 3 external HD to run simultaneously? Answered my own Q I attached a 500g HD, (A different brand/model), and it showed up just fine......

So, I can't have 2 "identical" External HDs connected at the same time?
Both of the WD 2tb are the same model and size.
