Tamron 70-300 VC Underexposure Club

Count me in! That thing consistently underexposed vs. my 18-105 by 1 stop @ 100mm. However, the AF was fast and the results were sharp, so I figured it was worth the $10 to ship it for service. I was told they have to adjust the aperture assembly, does that sound like a plausible cause for underexposure? I'll post back the results of the service when it's back.
I have to be honest, given that near-new Nikon 70-300 VR's can be had for less than I paid for the Tamron ($380 vs. the $350 or so the Nikons sell for) it did make me second guess my decision, but I really bought this lens to shoot @ 300mm and with enough shutter speed even wide open I was pleased with the results.
