and your factories were down for an indefinite period (see Thom Hogan's latest update) wouldn't you try to keep your upgrade-hungry customers happy by producing firmware upgrades? These could be "produced" outside of Japan. And you might even charge for it to get some revenues since you won't be getting any from camera sales for a while.
Just thinking out loud after reading about price gouging, etc. that's happening already because people know there won't be much coming out of japan for a while.
