Aspect Ratios

I do not know how to decide on Aspect Ratio when shooting with my G12. I print my images in 4 x 6 inches. Also, I often crop my images in PhotoShop Elements 8 to make a desired finished photo. Right now, I am using 4:3 aspect ratio. is the best one for me or should I use3:2? How does a person decide which one to use?
