Anyone else enjoy the DX crop mode for more reach with FX lenses?

I know the idea of the DX crop mode on my D700 is to allow use of DX lenses however it serves me well for times when you wish to have more reach with my FX lenses. Yes I know its "only" 5MP in that mode but that's plenty in some cases.

My 300 f/4 becomes 450mm in crop mode then add the TC14 = 630mm!!
