Shutter lag
Mar 13, 2011
|
I just measured the shutter-lag on my 40D, and thought I'd share the results. In the first image the the purple trace is the trigger signal, connected to a wired cable-release, and the yellow trace is from a light sensor. The sensor is picking up light from the camera's internal flash.
The light sensor takes some time to recover after each pulse, so the flash duration isn't really as long as the trace shows.
In the second image the flash is switched off and the shutter speed set to 1/8000s. This time the yellow trace shows the audio from a microphone placed near the camera.
