A55/33 and tracking focus

Does the A55 have or need cross-type focal points?

I know with Canon they have focal points that work with F/2.8 lenses for better/faster focusing and tracking of focuses objects.

Sony has a great 70-200mm lens that I really want, but I am wondering what the benefits are and how well it will works with the A55.
