Fuji X100 insane prices...

The price at the cheapest outlet here in New Zealand and for our Aussie cousins is not going to win Fuji many friends, unless you have wads of money to throw away on a camera. I imagine that for most of us these prices are pretty ugly and all but unjustifiable. Especially as I can buy a Leica or its cheaper Panny cousin or several different models of a DSLR for considerably cheaper price points.

To my mind almost all of these would be a good option for less outlay. There are cheaper options in the DSLR market but for this comment I chose mid point cameras and kit.

Guess what. I for one wont bother buying the X100. If this is the sort of pricing for the new Fujis then I would expect the HS20 to be well in excess of a thousand dollars here as well.
