Recommend me an all-purpose Zoom

I'll be taking a trip to Europe this summer, and would like to get a good all-purpose lens to replace the kit 18-55 for my A330. I also have the Tamron 90mm 2.8, and the Sony 50mm 1.4.

I'm willing to spend a maximum of ~$800.

Right now I'm looking at the Zeiss 16-80 and the Sony 16-105. Any thoughts on those or others I should know about?
