Can I overpower the sun with an SB900 in a soft box / umbrella ?
Feb 18, 2011

Hi Guys

I'm arranging a test model shoot next week with some volunteer models. If it's a sunny day (and we are in Summer down under here) can i overpower the sun if i'm shooting with a shoot through umbrella or a brollybox ?

It will be in a nice garden and I wanter to underexpose the background by a stop or two and light the subject with umbrella

I'm not sure if an SB900 will be powerful enough to achieve this.

I do not have an ND filter

Thoughts guys ?
