Well, really, to do autofocus before to turn on the live view (and shift to manual focus), when camera is in tripod and the subject will no move.

Really with the DSRL the best way to record is manual focus, the only one good to use autofocus is the GH1 with the 14-140 lens.
Currently I'm using Canon 60D.

The best I can recomend it's to buy a Hoodman loupe (or similar) to have the posibility to work with manual focus even under sunlight. Is a must have, with no doubts.
