D7k - Back from Nikon SVC and now ......
Feb 17, 2011

It's magnificent!

They invoice stated that the service dept made the following CAMERA repairs:

Adj Mirror Angle
Adj Auto Focus Operation
Firmware Upgrade
General Check and Clean

35 1.8 lens only needed a check and clean.

So for all of those blaming myself and all the others that had issues should have a slice of humble pie. I do not have thick skin and was able to dismiss everyone that showed the inkling of being a fan-boy.

The lesson here is to stop and actually listen to your fellow photography hobbyist and/or professionals. Nikon did not intentional produce a camera that requires a tripod and space shuttle shutter speeds to get a clear picture.

So without further adieu I bring family pics.....exciting I know.

These were taken raw and I used View NX2 to convert with NO PROCESSING.

As you can see, a focus chart is not necessary once the focus is working properly.

Also I did not use AF Fine tune at all. It is OFF.

My advice to new D7000 owners is that if your focus feels off to the point of you having to look up and print focus charts, you MAY have an issue. If you find that -7 to -12 brings your 35 / 1.8 lens into focus, just send it in for service.

Remember, these were not sharpened in PP at all!

PS, Thanks to all the people that actually listened and tried to help, you are a great asset to our community.
