Smaller camera for trip to Oz

Hello all,

I am going to Australia for most of April to attend my stepson's wedding and do some sightseeing in Sydney and Melbourne. I currently use a Nikon D90 but the thought of dragging all my "stuff" down under is beginning to worry me.

Maybe this is a silly idea, but I was thinking of buying a smaller camera, using it on the trip, then selling it after I get home. I'd want something that takes quality photos I can use for my gardening articles and blog. Any suggestions? Or should I just tough it out and take the Nikon.
