Is it grain?
Feb 15, 2011

I have had my 7D for over a year, but am only now seeking advice/reassurance on a matter that has troubled me throughout.

That is, when I magnify images on my monitor to above 100% the images appear to show a grainy quality at even the lowest ISOs, much like looking through the old frosted glass viewfinders. This does not show on the prints I produce (up to A4 only) and can be reduced by using the noise filter - but with the inevitable loss of detail - using Lightroom or CS5.

My monitor is a pretty good quality NEC Multisync EA231 wmi. It is also apparent on my second monitor, which is a Samsung Syncmaster 214T.
Any comments or ideas would be welcomed.
Oh, my lenses are also pretty respectable being "L" types, plus an EFS 17-55.
