Experiences on 24-70L softness calibration?
Feb 15, 2011

Has anyone had a "bad copy" of 24-70L and gotten it fixed by calibration in Canon service? Only solution i have found using the search is to get one swapped for new, but as my lens no longer under warranty that is clearly not an option.

I have had this lens for 5 years, but now when i upgraded my 1d2 to 1d3 i finally can rule out the focusing factor. This was focused using live view so it's spot on. The lens is really soft at 70mm 2.8. It get's ok when stopped down to 5.6 and that's how i have mostly used it.

The chart is printed on a4, so it does not match the one in digital picture, but it looks like my 24-70L is really soft in comparsion:

http://www.the-digital-picture.com/Reviews/ISO-12233-Sample-Crops.aspx?Lens=101&Camera=453&Sample=0&FLI=4&API=0&LensComp=103&CameraComp=0&FLIComp=0&APIComp=0

I just thought that if there are good experiences of getting the lens fixed, then i will send it in.
