But that was not scope of the question. In answering this question: Inded, I repeat, the xxxD series is very capable and absoluteley usable in RAW.

Yes, very useable RAW. Unless you shoot at moderate to higher rates, where the 6 frame RAW buffer becomes a physical impedance to continued shooting.

Obviously, a lower level camera is going to have some limitation that makes it less capable than a higher level camera. Otherwise, people may not see any point in buying the higher level camera. It's a way for manufacturers to differentiate one model from the next. Buffering capacity is simply one of those differentiators. And it does have a real world effect on shooting throughput. I just don't know why it's so hard for you to accept this. It doesn't mean that the 600D isn't capable of shooting RAW. It just means that people should be aware that a 6 frame RAW buffer does have real world ramifications if you shoot at a brisk pace. And the numbers speak for themselves:

  1. An 18mp RAW file is about 25MB.

  2. SD transfer rate is about 19MB/sec.

  3. The 600D has a buffering capacity of 6 RAW frames.

With these numbers, it's quite easy to see that shooting at a rate of 1 to 2 frames per second can easily fill the buffer rather quickly. Input exceeds output, and the buffer only has room for 6 RAW frames. Furthermore, if you happen to do a burst, you'll probably be able to squeeze off 6 frames (about 150MB) before the buffer fills up, at which time you are at the mercy of the flush rate of about 19MB/sec before you can shoot again. If you never shoot at a brisk rate, none of this is going to be an issue. But if you do occasionally shoot at a brisk pace, be aware of this limitation! Or if you don't want to have to deal with this limitation, spend an extra $100 or so and get a 60D. That's just the reality of the situation. No need to ignore this limitation, sugar coat it, dismiss it, or pretend it doesn't exist. It is what it is.
