60D video Q

How and what do I do with .MOV files . I cannot get Windows Movie Maker to recognise files

I burned an Image to disc ,with Roxio, uploaded it to youtube, it could not convert it,

I know there is a simple answer , mut as I am simple I cannot work it out.
