P-TTL In Auto ISO

Just curious if this is a specific issue with my flash, Vivitar DF-383, or for all P-TTL flash guns. When I chose a specific ISO, it is displayed correctly on my flash but when I choose Auto ISO, the flash always shows the lowest ISO I have set up in the Auto range. I thought that it was due to the fact that I had not metered the subject but after half pressing the shutter, and also the green button, the flash setting did not change. Anyone else seeing the same thing ?
