Does a camera being built in Japan make any difference to you?

I was just wondering if a camera being built in Japan makes any difference to you when you shop for a camera?

For example, the X100 is made in Japan, and it seems that Fuji does want you to notice that by placing the label just under the hot shoe. I wonder if it is a pride thing, or a marketing thing or a little of both.

Another example, if a camera or lens is produced in two countries does it make a difference to you? Leica; Germany or Canada. Nikon; Japan or China.

Thanks,

d2f
