Did you ever own/use a 35mm SLR?

I think the "35 mm equivalent" spec for lenses is a hold-over from the days when the early-adopters of digital were advanced 35mm SLR users. In those days it made sense.

These days, with the use of film greatly diminished, I'm wondering just how many current DSLR users ever actually worked with 35mm camera. If you never really used 35mm film (and with a variety of lenses), how can stating a lens focal length as a "35 mm equivalent" provide any meaningful info?

An informal poll: If you are a DSLR owner, add a reply indicating your previous use or not of 35mm film.

I'm sure there are still quite a few, but it only makes sense, that day by day, the number will diminish.

We need a new, meaningful way, meaningful to the digital sensors of today, to quote lens focal length performance.
