Is a monopod any use for MFT?

I have a £100 Jessops voucher but there are nothing I want from them so I am thinking of forcing myself to by something from them. Right now, I am thinking of buying a monopod for taking indoor photos for like school plays. However, it feels like it is a waste of money as I would probably use it only 2 or 3 times a year. I have a 14-140mm lens so a monopod could be useful when taking sports day photos but a monopod will certainly be used less than a tripod. Are monopods any use for a light camera like a MFT?
