Lexar CF 16 GB 600 Speed - Getting I/O Error in Computer

Hello,
I got a new Lexar 16GB 600 Speed CF card for Christmas, and when I plug it into my internal CF reader, I get an I/O error popup on the screen. Now, I left it in the CF reader for a while and then it worked after about 10 minutes. Almost like it was trying to load or something?
I am formatting in my Nikon D3 prior to shooting, not formatting in the computer.
This has now happened to me both times I plugged it into my computer after a shoot. The images record fine and eventually are able to be downloaded to my computer, but it's really frustrating.
I have a Dell Alienware 64gb operating system, running Windows 7, 12 GB Ram, 3.2 GHZ, etc. I have never had problems with SanDisk and I am excited about using Lexar but this being my first experience I am a little concerned. The Support people at Lexar told me to call in for troubleshooting, but I am thinking about returning the card for a different one.
Has anyone else experienced this? Your help is appreciated
