Hand Strap - Which is best?

Hi,

Have any of you tried a hand strap for holding your DSLR? Does a hand strap significantly reduce strain on the hand?

I'm looking for one and there appear two types. One type is an oval pad that is held against the back of the hand by a strap. The other type is triangular and has an added Velcro strap, starting below the thumb, to tie it around the hand.

In your opinion, which is the best hand strap for a DSLR? (I use a 50D) I'm looking for maximum comfort.
