So why isn't there a 30-100mm 2.8?

Crazy I know, but that seems perfect to me.

Why do I have to buy a 16-50 and 50-135, or 28-75 and a 70-200?

Am I the only one that feels a 30-100mm 2.8 would be great? or better yet 1.8
