Why No IS On My Prime
Jan 13, 2011

Ahhhhhh!!!! I just bought a 50mm 1.4 good money, excited about Canon after hating my own first DSLR for too long. Why don't any of the primes have IR. I feel useless without it. Please don't tell me professionals don't need it or anything like that. I could shoot at 1/4 of a second with my kit 18-55.. Now I'm struggling to shoot at 1/30th with my 50mm..

This is a disaster for me. I feel like I can't shoot with Low ISO's.. Does it get better? Will I become more steady? Do I have to remove the battery pack to shoot at a speed of 1/30 or less without blur..

Please help! I've been reading about the IS in camera on the Olympus and I really want one now. There I can use their pro OM lenses that are f 2.0 and have image stabilization, but I like the Canon for it's wide range of lenses, cultural love and becuase I have Canon products.

Sorry if I'm complaining, I've been frazzled ever since getting this lens.
