For some software packages those two are significant. I doubt between the two of them that affects even 1% of the professional photographers who use Photoshop.

That is probably a fairly significant reason.

The most significant reason though is because Microsoft Windows is the most popular OS and Photoshop is widely reputed to be the best and most complete commercial image editing product available for Windows. Simple as that, it is the product that represents "mainstream" in the minds of most people who make the decision.
