Pet Photography Lighting - C&C needed!
Jan 11, 2011

I'm trying to teach myself two things: Pet Photography and Lighting. Let me tell you... it's a lot to take on at once! I'm a hobbyist using a Nikon D90 with two SB600 speed-lights and a Tammy 90mm Macro.

Since my wife wasn't feeling good today, I managed to bribe my dog into doing a few poses for me (I apparently pay well - in dog treats of course!). I used one 600 to his left with a softbox (key light), another 600 with a small umbrella behind him on his left (hairlight, edge, and fill light!), and a car windshield reflector that I hung from the ceiling to his right (aimed to catch the umbrella light and reflect it as a fill). Finally, I hung a black sheet about 4' behind him.

All pictures where shot in manual f/11 @ 1/30s.

I tried to do the best I could given my very limited lighting gear! Any suggestions and C&C would be greatly appreciated!
