A coworker showed me a device from Sony that will solve your problem. It is a small GPS with a SDHC slot. You sync the camera's clock to the GPS and then carry both. When you want to tag the photos you just stick the card into the GPS and it inserts the location into all the jpegs on the card. It is about the size of a pager if you are old enough to remember those.

I do not know if it will work with RAW files and it is yet another device to buy and carry.
