With my Hoya HD filter, I typically lose 1 1/3 - 1 1/2 stops, where as with the older filters I typically lost 2 stops. The coatings on the HD are very tough.

I have several Hoyas. They are great for the money, but have three series issue for me. One you already addressed in that they scratch VERY easily. Second, the are incredibly tough to clean. Third, they are poor in anything but a very bright day as they lose a lot of light. I would highly recommend getting at least a B+W filter with the zeiss lens.

I competely agree that the Hoyas HD are still excellent filters. However, I have found them too dark in many instances. I don't see this with the B+W filters. What older filters are you comparing to Hoyas HD to?
