"Flat view" vs. "Threaded view"

This may have been discussed before, but why, oh why, does DPReview implement the flat view vs. threaded view choice through different ASP files, rather than as a user preference?

When I click on a link to another post, I get dumped into somebody else's preference regarding flat view vs. threaded view, so half the time I end up having to switch.

My personal preference is flat view, since I feel that it gives me the context without having to click a gazillion times. But, this is my preference, and I understand others have different preferences.

But could at least DPReview keep my preference when someone links to another post?

Technically, it is just a matter of having the code in the ASP file check for the user's preference, and then produce the appropriate output.
