Basically I'm interested in these two elements:

1) What settings (besides contrast/curves) do you use to get the faces "pop" out, like this one:

You can even see how their eyes almost glitter...

And about sharpness... what's the best method to get perfect sharpness for web resolution (from 800 to 1280px), if your original file has 18mpx and ok focus?

So far I've been using about 120% radius 1.3 smart sharpness on the original image and then unsharp mask 30% 0.4 on the reduced image (for web).
But I'm not entirely satisfied... sometimes I get muddy results...

I want to get something like this:

Look how they are perfectly sharpened with no major artifacts and how their faces "pop"! Yes, I'm aware of shallow DOF, but again I don't quite get that even with f1.4/f2
