We can't leave out the D100. I preferred the D100 over the D200 for my close-up work. The images just had a certain look that I liked.--

.. everytime I go into the field prowling around for wildlife, I put a WA on my old D100 "just in case" .. there is something about the D100's colors ..

Amazing close-up's .. breathtaking - I couldn't tell from your EXIF what lens you used. I'd also really like to know your lighting arrangement .. ?

Thanks for any info; much appreciated - and thanks also for sharing .. !

ps .. I'm browsing your "Viewer's Favorites" on your website ... great images!!

Hi Ron,
I used a Nikon 300mm f/4d AF-S with extension tubes for all of these images.

My lighting set-up is very simple-only natural light. Never use flash, diffusers or reflectors.

I shoot mostly from first light to about an hour after sunrise. Cloudy days are also a good time to shoot.
I use a tripod, mirror lock-up and a remote shutter release for every shot.

It's less about the subject and more about the composition & light- Ronnie Gaubert.
