Sigma 70-210mm f4-5.6 vs Pentax 50-200mm f 4-5.6 WR?
Dec 31, 2010

I have the Sigma 70-210mm f4-5.6 UC-II (AF) with which I am reasonably well pleased. I am considering replacing it with the Pentax 50-200mm WR as the zoom range is better for pairing it with my 'normal' lens a Sigma 10-20mm f 4-5.6 (I can always use my Sony WX1 pocket camera to cover the gap). They are both of a similar size and weight. I know from past experience that I will never carry more than one extra lens, one on the K7 and one in the Sigma 10-20 belt mounted case.

I was looking at the Pentax 18-135mm f 3.5-5.6, but have decided that at £500 versus £100 for the 50-200 it is just far too expensive right now, and want to decide on a lens to take with me on holday to Madeira in mid January.

Does anyone have experience of the image quality of both the Sigma 70-210 and the Pentax 50-200?
