I did a Side by Sibe of the 300s and the D7000, the 7000 blows it away as Far as Specs go! What am I missing?

I tried D7000 in a store (I've been using D300 for last 3 years) and first thing I want for my wildlife shooting is the AF-On button. I turn off AF from the shutter release all the time. That way I can reframe any time and shoot the stills. For action I felt having AF enabled only via AF-ON button gave me better result.

You can customize AF/AE lock button for this. But try that yourself. The position of this switch is not same as AF-On button.

AF module in D7000 is not up to CAM 3500. 15 cross type sensor is very important. The burst rate boost with battery grip is another important thing for me.
